Sometimes the experiences we have of life leave us stressed frustrated or isolated and it's hard to make the changes we are looking for on our own.

It can really help to lay out issues that are on your heart in a  caring, non-judgemental space with someone who understands...

About counselling....

Life stories and relationships impact on our experience of life and the way we feel about ourself and others.  This can cause "stuckness", self doubt and big feelings like anger, sadness, fear etc.  It might lead to depression, anxiety, lack of resilience, etc. It can be challenging to find genuine solutions all on our own.

Talking it through with a qualified therapist who is caring, impartial and insightful can help connect

the dots and

change the storyline..

Working collaboratively to move forward ...

Whatever it is you're dealing with I provide a safe, encouraging and supportive space to work through it and move forward.  I am experienced at taking a collaborative approach using strategies and frameworks appropriate to the issues at hand. I am trained in Narrative & Person Centred Therapies, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and work with an understanding of our capacity to change based on neuroscience research.

I see young people (15years+) through to

not so young

My name is Anita Wong and I am an experienced qualified counsellor who sees people with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, self esteem, identity, sexual  trauma, relationships, grief, LGBTQ issues and spirituality.  I see clients Online, in Mt Eden and at Visionwest Glen Eden and I cater to all ages from adolescence onwards. I have an integrated narrative and person-centred approach and incorporate DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) strategies with an understanding of the connection between mind, body & spirit.

In the initial session we can discuss how the counselling process works, and identify what you want to get out of counselling.   Generally you should notice  progress in whatever purpose we have set together within 3-5 sessions. Some people may benefit from longer term counselling, depending on the issues being faced.

Testimonials

Anita is so accepting and easy to talk to. She has helped me to see things from a new perspective and given me really practical tools for managing things that I'd been struggling with. Going to see her was always a highlight of my week!

I am now able to take a positive attitude going into a situation rather than worrying people won’t like me

I have now realised that I don’t have to constantly question myself – I can just be accepting of myself.  I have also decided that although other people are factors, I can set my own path.
